Chinese Medicine is Primary Health Care

In practice for more than 3000 years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is now used as a primary healthcare system for more than a third of the world’s population. This method balances and builds the body’s life force or energy known as QI.

In this school of thought, a person is viewed as an energy system in which body and mind are unified, influencing and balancing each other.

While Western medicine tries to isolate and separate a disease from a person, Chinese Medicine focuses on a holistic approach that treats the whole person.

We make a Chinese medical diagnosis based on a thorough examination and consultation. The process involves the assessment of the pulse and tongue, as well as the observation of the patient’s facial color.

Needling and Electrical Stimulation are only part of the many energy-balancing techniques used in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional therapies also include:

  • Dietary Counseling
  • Oriental Massage
  • Herbal Remedies
  • Cupping and Moxibustion
  • Electrical Stimulation

Acupuncture enables self-healing by reducing pain and inflammation, strengthening organ function, and balancing hormones, including endorphins and brain neurotransmitters.

Acupuncture Therapy

Acupuncturists recognize particular pathways called meridians. These are neural passages through which the QI energy circulates and are connected to all the major organs and glands with the skin surface.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the disease is seen as a result of an imbalance or blockage in the body’s natural QI energy flow. This imbalance manifests physically, emotionally, and psychosomatically via stress-related disorders.

Acupuncture points are electrical sensitivity areas known to be vital in the treatment of specific health problems. These areas have been mapped out by the Chinese for over 3000-4000 years.

Acupuncture is done using a very thin, sterile, stainless steel needles inserted into specific points along the meridians. This enables the dispersal of blockages and mobilizes the body’s natural immune response.

We have studied many styles of acupuncture over the years with some of the greatest masters alive and have incorporated aspects of all of them in our treatments. These styles include:

  • TCM
  • Dr. Tan Balance Method
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Master Tung
  • Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture

Herbology

Herbology is one of the more important modalities used in traditional Chinese medicine. Each herbal prescription includes of many herbs tailored to the individual patient.

Practitioners tailor remedies using one or two main ingredients that target the illness. Many other ingredients are added to adjust the formula to the patient's condition. These steps require great experience and knowledge.

Compared to Western medications, the balance and interaction of all the ingredients are considered more important than the effect of individual ingredients. The key to success is the individualized treatment of each patient.

Our company carries the entire line of Evergreen Herbal Formulas. Also, our company carries over 200 safe powders, capsules, pills, and tinctures.

Cupping

An ancient Chinese method, cupping was widely practiced in Europe up to the 20th century. In the procedure, cups are placed on the skin, and a partial vacuum is created through heat or suction to draw up the underlying tissues.

The stagnation-like soreness in stiff muscles will be released, and localized healing will take place. Cupping therapy has been further developed as a way of opening up QI meridians (energy pathways).

Cupping affects the body up to four inches under the skin. This causes tissues to release toxins and activate the lymphatic system.

This procedure is equally effective in clearing up the veins, arteries, and capillaries and boosting circulation at the skin’s cellular level.

Moxibustion

A traditional Chinese medical technique, moxibustion involves the burning of Mongolian Mugwort (Artemesia Vulgaris), a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing.

Used throughout Asia for thousands of years, this method warms the meridians, stimulates the flow of QI, and maintains general health. Zhenjiu (针灸) is the actual Chinese character literally translated as "acupuncture-moxibustion."

Tui-Na

A unique type of Chinese medicinal massage, Tui-Na consists of brushing, kneading, rolling, pressing, and rubbing specific areas of the body to:

  • Open the body’s defensive (weiqi) energies
  • Get the QI moving in both the meridians and muscles

Tui-Na is typically applied to painful joints, muscles, tendons, and connective tissue.

Chinese Nutrition

Many illnesses are caused by toxins in the processed food we eat. By avoiding manufactured ingredients and pesticides, we can reduce the harmful substances entering our bodies.

Switch to organically grown food and natural plant remedies that help the body heal itself and prevent future disease.

We recommend no dairy, sugar, gluten, fast food, or junk food. The healthiest diet option is Paleo. If clients prefer vegetarian diets, we add the same principles as above.
